How do I make my guitar look like Eric Clapton's?

I read online that using sandpaper to a guitar will help age it. I want to make my Fender Telecaster look worn down, such like John Mayer's, Stevie Ray Vaughan's, and Eric Clapton's stratocasters. Before I start, I'm asking to see if I should use sandpaper, if there's a better way, or if sandpaper is not even the way to go. Help?
