What is The Glee Project?

Here's why. Ready? - I was listening to "Clarity" by John Mayer and one of the comments was a link to a cover of it. The cover was by some dude named Cameron Mitchell. I went to his channel to see all his songs, and almost ALL the comments went something like "I hope you win The Glee Project!" and "If you don't win The Glee Project, I'll be very mad." So, I looked up what it was, but all it gave me was the site of the show and a Wikipedia page. The Wiki page didn't help because all it said was it was a TV series. The official show site didn't help because all it was about was the people. It didn't say anything about what the show was about.
